(Based On National Averages)
With these high numbers and types of issues that teens face, parents are generally left with two options; Specialty Boarding Schools and Military Schools.
Specialty boarding schools and Military Schools are similar in a lot of ways.
They both have a strong regimented structure. They both also provide a firm set
of rules to deal with inappropriate behavior. Military schools and Specialty boarding schools are typically based on a merit
system. Merit system is based on points where the students start on level
zero and through appropriate demeanor and behavior can move up
through the merit system. As students move up through the merit system they
are rewarded with more privileges and responsibilities.
Military schools and specialty boarding schools are also generally private schools. These schools are dedicated to having more discipline and motivation for the students. The students live at the schools, where the school provides all the necessities.
These schools are dedicated to helping students with setting higher standards
and being goal oriented. Specializing with students who might struggle in
a traditional school.
There are a few important differences between Specialty Boarding Schools and
Military schools. Specialty boarding schools deal with teens who need more
attention and are struggling or troubled. Specialty Boarding schools
deal with a wide spectrum of teens. Specialty schools are able to deal with issues such as:
drug abuse, school failure, runaways, adoption issues, adhd, legal
problems, etc. While military schools do not have the structure or specialization
to cover such a broad range of teen problems. Military schools like specialty schools can help teens
that are failing in schools, need discipline or lack motivation.
When choosing between military school and boarding school, remember these
few things. Military schools can help students who need discipline or motivation.
Specialty boarding schools are able to provide the environment and support
to help teens that are struggling, failing school, using drugs, have family
problems, social problems and etc. So if your teen only needs some additional discipline or motivation a military
school may work for them. If your teen is dealing with a variety of issues
a specialty boarding schools would be best.
